Alexa Auto is looking for a Principal Solutions Engineer to join its Partner Engineering team and help build new and innovative solutions that will define the future of voice-forward in-cabin experiences for the car.

The Principal Solutions Engineer is a dynamic role that is inherently cross-functional. You will work directly with business development, automaker's engineering team(s) and internal engineering team(s) as necessary to define, develop, and deliver first-of-their-kind Alexa Auto solutions. As a technical lead for our partner projects, you must possess a unique combination of creativity, deep technical skills and business acumen as well as a do-what-it-takes attitude to ensure the collective team is able to scope, plan, design, build, integrate, and ultimately deliver solutions that will delight our customers. You will also take your learnings and discoveries from these projects and drive our roadmap, shaping next-generation Alexa-Automotive products and services.

Our ideal candidate will have launched multiple, high-profile automotive or embedded products, have demonstrated the ability to lead highly complex projects from inception through delivery, and demonstrated success partnering with or managing external partner organizations. Ideally, you will also have hands-on experience in the automotive infotainment and connected vehicle space. • Lead the engagements for our most strategic partner projects by working with internal teams and automotive partners' developers, architects, hardware engineers and managers to scope, design, and develop new and innovative Alexa Auto solutions for their products and services
• Own the high-level architectural approach for joint partner projects. Develop proof-of-concepts (POCs) and prototypes as necessary to demonstrate feasibility and evangelize new Alexa Auto Solutions
• Collaborate with the Alexa product teams to define platform requirements and product plans for how partners will create next-generation Alexa Auto solutions
• Educate partners on the Alexa Service and participate in deep architectural discussions to ensure their solutions are designed for successful deployment
• Work proactively to resolve technical issues for partners, spending time on-site as needed helping them integrate with Alexa
• Develop unique, compelling and exciting presentations and demonstrations of new Amazon technologies

Basic Qualifications:
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline
• 10+ years of experience in the design and development of complex IT systems
• 3+ years of hands-on architectural or distributed systems experience
• Hands-on development experience with two or more programming languages (e.g., C++, Java, JavaScript or Python)
• Experience in a customer-facing, sales-aligned role such as consultant, solutions engineer or solutions architect
• Experience working in the automotive industry

Preferred Qualifications:
• An advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline
• Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, innovative, and rapidly evolving industry and business organization
• Demonstrated ability to dive deep in understanding the product, our business, and the competitive landscape
• Demonstrated effectiveness working across multiple business units to achieve results
• Excellent communication and persuasion skills; demonstrated success building buy-in for an innovative and bold vision
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills; strong bias towards data-based decision making
• Deep understanding of automotive in-vehicle-infotainment (IVI) system architecture
• Previous experience developing software targeting Android, QNX or embedded Linux
• Previous experience developing and shipping IoT or consumer electronics devices
• Experience with speech-related hardware systems
• Experience in the voice processing, portable device or personal digital assistant industry
